Understanding Curvature Radius (1000R vs 1500R vs 1800R)
The "R" in monitor curvature ratings stands for Radius in millimeters. A 1000R monitor forms part of a circle with a radius of 1,000mm (1.0 meter), while an 1800R monitor forms a gentler curve with a radius of 1,800mm (1.8 meters).
When seated at the center of curvature (e.g. 100cm away from a 1000R screen), every point on the display is equidistant from your eyes, eliminating edge blur and color shift.
Deep Immersion
Found on Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 (49" & 57"). Wraps tightly around your peripheral vision for maximum lateral FOV.
Balanced Curve
Popular on mid-range 34" and 32" gaming monitors. Natural viewing curve without aggressive distortion.
Gentle Curve
Found on early ultrawides and productivity screens. Subtle curve that provides wide desktop space.
The Curved Arc Correction Formula
Unlike flat screens, curved monitor width is measured along the circular arc:
Our calculator calculates this continuous trigonometric chord in real time as you adjust the radius and distance sliders.
